This is something I wrote inspired by Svera's beautiful piece "Dragon ship" [link]

The rest of her gallery is here: [link] ; I highly recommend you visit!

If you've seen the picture, the idea is that someone on that ship wrote this letter and dropped it over the side... whereupon it was picked up by an unassuming young man (yours truly) and posted here to dA =P That's how it's meant to be read, in any case.

I tried to make it look old and fantasy-ish, let me know how that worked out! Also, I have this vague idea of typing it up with a nice ribbon in the manner of those old scrolls, and leaving it by the roadside for some random stranger to find... I wonder what someone would think if they picked it up and read it! What do you think?

P.S. I put it in the Sculpture & Crafts - Artisan Crafts - Other category; not sure if that's the best place for it but I couldn't find any other!

Beautiful design, the parchment looks worn and the script heavy but done in a flowing hand. I think you achieved a fantasy scene just fine by the visual of a letter and it's a marvelous idea for journal concepts.

The written content sounds wistful and a touch sad . . . as if the "author" misses contact of their kind. It also teaches a morale not to take things for granted. A very haunting and beautiful letter.

Thank you! I'm really glad you were able to connect with it =) I'm also really glad the visual of the letter worked for you. And wistfulness was pretty much exactly what I was going for, so I was happy to see that in your comment.

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment!

I have fav'ed too. Just reading through this quickened the wanderer-mind in my heart that had been temporarily sent into hibernation by the struggles of the now-spent semester.

Wow...that was a much-syllabled sentence.

Well done. Thank you.

How have I not replied to this yet?

Sorry!

Thanks a lot for the comment -- I was delighted to hear that the wanderer in you found something quickening here. That's as much of a compliment as anything I could have asked for! =)

Okay, I completely love the content of the letter--if this isn't the start of a story or a journey, I don't know what else could be--and I think you would be doing the world a grave disservice if you didn't get a nice weathered piece of parchment, print or ink it out, and tuck it inside the front cover of a book at a second-hand book shop. Or at the very least, write a story about it. I fav'd.

Thank you! I hadn't thought of tucking it into a book; that's a great idea.

And thank you so much for the fav! =)
